Here’s a fun video from Scottish musician and guitar builder John David Coupland. The video features a number of homemade guitars, commercial models and some guitar part art. We’d swear that some of these instruments were played by Mr. Spock in his room on board the Enterprise. John is a self taught guitarist and church organist and has been playing and composing for over 40 years. He is currently worship leader in an inner city Church of Scotland. His musical influences include The Beatles, the Shadows, The Monkees, Gordon Lightfoot and classical composers Dvorak, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and jazz guitarist Ivor Mairants for whom he used to work. The soundtrack for the video is by John through HarpAxe.com. John uses his creation to explore the world of instrumental music. With over 40 years of composing behind him he still finds new ways to create charming and graceful music. From the electric reverb laden twang of the Year Album to the worshipful acsoutic sounds of To God be the Glory there is something for everyone.
