| December 15, 2010 | 0 Comments

American Classic Kits of Cincinnati and Milford Ohio is a maker of wood kits for a variety of purposes including furniture, games and now musical instruments. Their new electric guitar kit is a stratocaster-type model designed for beginning woodworkers but with the ability to be used by advanced builders as the platform for an ultimate strat. They use an american hardwood, alder, for the body which is suitable for staining or painting. The neck is maple with a 25.5″ scale, 12″ radius fingerboard, dual-action truss rod (installed), medium frets and a white bone nut. The neck comes with a squared-off headstock for the builder to do final shaping to a desired look. Step-by-step photo and text instructions are provided with the kit. The basic kit without hardware is $299.00 as shown here:

An additional package of all hardware needed, including tuners, pick guard, pickups and all electronics, cover plates, tremolo, strings and screws is $150 – $175 depending on finish, and is shown here:

Here’s a video demonstrating the manufacture of the kit.
