The Zendrive overdrive pedal made by Hermida Audio Technology is renowned for low-to-medium gain overdrive that recreates the tones of premium guitar amplifiers. Four knobs control the overall volume, gain, tone and voicing of the pedal. At lower settings, the pedal offers light overdrive sounds reminiscent of tube amps set near the “sweet spot.” At higher settings, the Zendrive increases in gain and sustain, producing overdrive and low distortion tones. The Zendrive prices out online at $199.00.
German parts and kits supplier MEK UK Electronics sells a Zehndrive Clone kit (shown left) for about 54 Euros (about $72.00 at time of writing) with a pre-drilled case and all components. We’ve been curious about what this kit sounds like and recently came across the demonstration video below. Please note that the manual for this kit is only available in German, but this breakout photo will give you an idea of the complexity of the kit.
